New Pope declares Rock Music is a "vehicle of anti-religion"
Posted by AdminCodeWarrior in on April 22, 2005 at 12:13 AM

From http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,20709-1576678,00.html
A bit of history...
The current pope was a member of the Hitler Youth Movement (though they claim he was not "enthusiastic" in that movement)

"In 1981 he became Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, formerly the Inquisition, where he earned the nickname "The Enforcer", and Dean of the College of Cardinals in 2002. He and the late Pope were referred to as "intellectual bedfellows". "

and more recently

"But it is in his enforcement of Church doctrine that he has made so many enemies around the world. He said it was "an enormous mistake" to allow Turkey to join the European Union, has described rock music as a "vehicle of anti-religion" and believes cloning is a more serious threat to humanity than weapons of mass destruction. He believes the ban on women priests is necessary to safeguard doctrine, is against multiculturalism and believes that the Church of England is not a proper church. Other religions he regards as deficient and homosexuality in his view is an "intrinsic moral evil".

Wanna e-mail the pope about anything?
His english e-mail address (for english writers) is :

Ah, I found it. The true story.

And I just saw "The Mission" with Robert DeNiro and Jeremy Irons.
And I went to a Jesuit law school. Father Drinen, please help us understand.
(You know the Pope made Drinen quit the U.S. congress. True story.)

The Witch calls the new pope too old, senile, and out of touch with common people to be a legitimate religious icon.

One of the most vital aspects of the rock n' roll ethos is a call for people, especially youth, to question authority in all its forms.

That authority could be your parents, your church, the state, the principal of your high school, whatever.

So in that sense the pope is right, rock is anti-religious.

Horray for rock...rock on...rockit

RAWK!

At least he is standing up and telling the REAL doctorine of the soon-to-be-obsolete beliefs!! Problem is, so many folks still believe this stuff is holy!! How can one casually dismiss over half of humanity as second-class?

He also dismisses all other religions as "deficient"...

as far as Christian rock...
Please see the article..

"If you have ever had the misfortune to listen to Christian pop music, you have surely noticed that it is truly, undeniably, irredeemably rotten. Almost without exception, it is flaccid weeny garbage, lame knockoffs of boy-band pabulum and quiet storm ick. If this is the heavenly choir, I'll take hell. (In fairness, I once heard a not-bad Christian reggae album with a world-class title: Nothing To Dread.)"

it's funny, Jesus used to inspire some of the most wonderful works of art, including music.
Somehow, Christians went from Handel's Messiah to the irredeemable shit that passes for Christian music these days.

I actually collect bad Christian music, for ironic kitch purposes, not the poppy boring stuff you hear on the Xtian radio station but the really weird stuff.

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of experiencing some of the weirdest, most disturbing and surreal, badly performed music ever set to tape, check out...
-Lil' Markie
-The New Creation
-the Louvin Brothers
-the Hecker family
even Tammy Faye put out a few recordings

there's tons more, a bit of internet research and a good file sharing network,(god bless p2p) are all you need.

If God has forsaken us, you can thank them.
