Boycott-Riaa Chatroom OPEN
Posted by OtherMike (Shmoo) in on March 21, 2005 at 10:26 AM

I suggest ALL Boycott-Riaa members/regular visitors (even casual visitors/newbies) log into our chat-room whenever at our site. Let's use it for quick and easy communication amongst ourselves (ESPECIALLY when we feel like cussing or fussing at each other... from now on, let's try to keep THAT sorta thing OFF the threads/boards.)

But a chat-room has many more uses than just that!
---

And now, a bit of the TOS from the host of our chat-room:

---
Chatzy is a free private chat service. Fill out the form to create a chat room immediately - only for you and the people you invite!

Why Chatzy is a good alternative to traditional chat sites as well as ICQ, Yahoo, MSN and AOL Messenger:

Chatzy has no registration steps - your friends can join instantly
Chatzy is free and has no popup ads
Chatzy does not require any installation on your computer (= no spyware)
Chatzy works on any PC, with any language and through corporate firewalls
Chatzy is simple and easy to use.

---

Chatzy seems to be on the up and up. They use Java script, but otherwise I see no spam, virus, or other internet/computer problems from them thus far.

If you have a legitimate gripe why this chat-host is a NO-GO for our uses, PLEASE let me know.

Boycott-Riaa has been given the OPTION to require a password from chatters who wish to log on, but until a need (due to abuse BY a user) arises, currently, you do NOT need one!

Come join us!

I made mention on this in the chat thread, will also make mention here. If you go into the chat room, you will not see any responces till you send a new chat message as the screen doesn't update till you send a new line. It won't accept spaces so would suggest you send something like a . or something to see the next update. Otherwise it will seem you sent hello and no one answered you.

Also, for the link, bookmark it till there is a permanet link. The bookmark works well as I have tried it.

chatzy is a great bw waster. IRC is better. I can see someone with dialup pulling their hair out. Considering it updates every second. I was watching my bw, and it was easlily hitting 45k (not 4.5k witch is what I figure a good dialup can handle)

I will link to the sidebar as soon as I can get re-connected with the Boycott-Riaa server database. (Been having tech probs this week, have also been unable to update the Picks list and etc.)

This chatroom is just on a trial basis for now. I wanted a room that was simple to log onto, that you didn't have to sign up or load any software for. IRC might be "better" for those who know how to work it, but I didn't want to have new visitors to have to jump thru hoops just to chat with us.

I will go test chatzy on the dial up computer in the other room right now to see how bad the bandwidth prob is.
