Was he a member of the RIAA? Not sure why this item is germaine.
I did not like him or his writing. Given his personality, is it any surprise he came to this end?

Hunter Thompson is/was an inspiration for a lot of musicians. Whether you like him or not.

I'm a little curious myself, actually.

Who cares if it's germane or not?
If you are going to act like a snob, learn to spell first.
Here's a relavant quote attributed to Mr. Thompson:
"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."
Is that germane enough for you?

Certainly a drag. But there's lots worse things that can happen to you than being dead.

And what does being germane have to do with anything?

Germane to what? If you haven't figured out yet that everything is interconnected then it's time to get the fuck out.
Hunter S. Thompson was one of the greatests minds and journalistic inspirations of the twentieth century. Regardless of whether you agree with his opinions or not. His work covered every aspect of America as well as the human experience. He deserves respect ...you scurvy sheister bastards.

one my first Thompson pieces was an article in Rolling Stone. He was a fine writer with a wit that scared many people, as he didn't really care what people thought, but wrote what he felt was relevant. The journalism world lost a great asset.
