Slimchance is a hip hop artist (group?) that has been using dmusic for a short while now. I have heard a few Slimchance tunes and they are quality recordings. I suspect Slimchance is/was in negotiations for a label contract. If this is the case, rather than loose another artist to the RIAA, we should encourage Slimchance to go the indie route instead.

Bashing a music style you don't happen to like yourself is bad form folks.

Somehow that one got derailed into a racial issue. Isn't but one poster I saw brought up race or color and introduced it into this thread, go back and read for yourself.

I certainly remember the last time. You will notice I made no mention of anything but wishing the man well. Doesn't matter to me that one likes hip hop or another likes rap or that someone likes country. None are my cup of tea but then I don't have to listen to it by choice. I feel each and everyone of us have that ablitity and funcitionaly to operate either the on/off knob or the tuner knob or has intimate knowledge of how to change what is at present playing. Never was an issue of who is listening to what. Nor was it a race issue. Still isn't.

At the same time, the first thing that comes up that the originator hears that doesn't please him, it seems he is more than ready to play the race card as a ploy. Sorry, that don't float here. You yourself have earned the name of that you wish to lay on others.

I suspect, with much sadness this thread will suffer the fate of the last one and be pulled from the site. Prehaps it should, after all the site is about music and musicans, not race or even intellegence.

Tracks, after thinking about what I wrote in the spur of the moment, I wish I could delete that post above. I think it uncalled for. That being said, maybe we all have not reached the level any of us should be at. This will be my last comment on this thread as I won't open it again no matter how active it might become.

As much as music is about life and what goes on around us, so is race. You are exposed to life and write or even sing about it as it affects you. Can't be any other way. Our prespectives are so colored also in that it reflects us and how we are, who we are, and even where we are from. I have tried hard in this thread to repeat over and over that it isn't about the type of music, it isn't about even what race you are.

Take any genre you care to name and there is always a leader in it from every race and in most bands it is so reflected. Really doesn't have anything to do with race, as in hated. Yet it has everything to do with how we see life and experience it, and in that sense it to is flavored by race.

Because you talk one way and I don't get it, doesn't mean you are from some foreign planet, doesn't mean you are some "critter" because you do it different than I. That being said, while it is part of a culture scene, try to talk in slang doesn't carry your message across at all. Instead it makes it a cypher, one that many, myself included won't take time to puzzle out.

By all means say what you got to say, but say it with the intellegence you are given. Not with a message of hate. I will do the same.
