Tom Miller, in a bid to be the first man to obtain one million dollars from a millionaire for absolutely nothing, states his case on his website:

All I can say is: Good Luck! The only way he'll get that is if he goes to a millionaire's house and slips and falls, then claims that his life will never be the same. Then he might just get that million dollars. Plus an extra 200 million.

Meanwhile the people who live in the real world go about making their money the old-fashioned way, through work.

Alright, I'm going to set up a website to solicit help with my performance art piece. It's going to be entitled, "A better America" and it will involve at least two major themes:

1) It will call for the CEO of every major corporation to donate every cent they have to charity;

2) It will call upon every politician in the country to step down, after which we will elect all new policitians with the main limitations being that they have to at least have an IQ over 70, cannot have more than $100,000 in assets and cannot accept donations of any kind.

I'm in favor of all kinds of news being posted here...(shall we take a vote on that?) It lets us know where we all stand on a lot of different issues.... and it keeps it interesting... scraps and all! Good for you Tom!

That guy is being ridiculous by the way, but who knows, sometimes ridiculous pays off... keep us updated eh?

I don't see why this is relevant - but whatever.

"cannot have more than $100,000 in assets"

So... a homeowner is not eligible?

'cannot have more than $100,000 in assets'
that's too low, i'd really say less then $3,000,000 in total assets, retirement funds, house, cars, stocks, bonds, ect. all count you know as assets.

Statesmen should be running the country not politicians.

also i'd say no office holder may hold their office for more then 2 terms period, judges, congressmen, senators, mayors, state officials, presidential aids, ect.

term limmits

People shouldn't run for office, they should be appointed to office by lottery.

In other words, those who want the job should be barred from it. :) (Smile)

What a great idea. Public office should be like jury duty -- forced, not funded.

When two guys spend a total of a billion dollars competing for a job that only pays $400k a year, it sets a precedent of stupidity. Can you imagine if you had to pay $100,000 to get a minimum wage job at McDonalds?

Ironically, the latter position is more likely to serve the people.

considering that the average home is worth more than $100,000, that excludes every homeowner in the US.

i would say "cannot have more than 1,000,000" in assets
..

considering that retirement funds can easily reach 1 million it will still be overly restrictive, but more realistic.

Somebody rich please give a million bucks to the independent music activist community (us here at boycott/dmusic, or creativecommons/eff/downhillbattle or something!!!)

DO something GOOD with the $$$. Don't just give it to a guy who knows how to promote himself. (Hell, he would just EARN it and more on his own anyway!)

...sigh, more money wasted/spounged
