The Rock N Roll Candidate
Posted by AdminCodeWarrior in on October 6, 2004 at 8:02 PM

Is it possible that if a candidate was a former rock and roll musician that he might be more sensitive to our isssues?

John Kerry played in a rock band called the Electras.

"John Kerry is a far more interesting person than many people realize. Whatever you think of his politics, Kerry is an fascinating man with a history of living life to its fullest. Some people vote based on political platforms, but studies have shown that most Americans vote based on their opinion of the person, rather than the politics. So in the interest of giving the world a better understanding of who John Kerry is and was, we've created this site. We support Kerry in his run for office and we think you will too. We believe the more you look, the more you like this man who may become our next president.
In 1961 John Kerry and some friends formed a band that played at school dances. They also cut an album and pressed 500 copies that they sold at gigs. Only a few copies still exist and we managed to get one.

As they say on American Bandstand ,"He's got a good beat and you can dance to him". We think Kerry Rocks!"

lots of musicians didn't get their picture taken with John Lennon and lots of mucisicans are not rock and roll. All I said was, he's a musician. it's hard to believe but there are people that like his music. I had my picture taken with a millionaire once. don't see it in my bank account.

Point is that if Kerry's a musician as well that means he's probably familiar with and has maybe rubbed shoulders with the powerful of the industry. if that's the case then how will he be with our cause. (trying to create a tie with the reason for this site)

Well, he does snowboard and winsurf, so it's not like he's a stick in the mud. But another question: Didn't Al Pacino look like one of the Beastie Boys when he was younger?
AdminCodeWarrior
Date: October 6, 2004 @ 9:44 PM
Yeah, I guess Pacino did kinda...you're right:) (Smile)

Anyway, since this administration actively sided with the RIAA in the Verizon case AGAINST the right side of the debate (US), I don't think Kerry would be any worse!

The RIAA gave five times as much money to the Democrats as they gave to the Republicans this year.

I am suprised there is no DRM on the fragments, but why not have the entire songs available for free download? And George is right, the RIAA loves the Democrats on the inside in Washington.
(A big part of the reason I no longer consider myself a Democrat.)

From what I can discern from the short sample clips, I DO like and approve of the music/style of Kerry's band. Kinda reminds me of what my band sounded like way back when.

While its disturbing that the RIAA gave 5 times as much more money to the Democrats than the Republicans, that may be because the Democrats need more "persuading" to pass legislation that the RIAA would propose than the Republicans do. Either way, these facts
point out the problem with America today. It is called the "two party" system. It was NOT what our forefathers intended, and it's quite obvious from the comments in this thread that is DOES NOT help us get what we'd all like to see done with regard to music and copyright reform.

Neither candidate can be assured of passing legislation that we'd all like to see passed. What are our other choices? Ralph Nader?? Get real. There is no other REAL CHOICE. And THAT is what's wrong with the two party system. Instead of being able to elect a candidate we'd all WANT as President, we are forced to choose between the lesser of two evils.

Our best weapon is still the almighty dollar. Continue to boycott riaa, and get as many people as possible to do the same.

"The RIAA gave five times as much money to the Democrats as they gave to the Republicans this year."

That shows how retarded the RIAA is...their true friends are repubs,
Orrin Hatch, Lamar Smith, Mary Bono,C.L. "Butch" Otter, and more.

Lobbiest's money doesn't necessarily go to people that they already have in their pocket.

Their 'incentives' more frequently go to the people they're trying to buy out so that they also are in their pocket.

i.e. - they still need to buy the dem's out - the republicans in one way or another are already tied to most of the major conglomerates.

Why pay Hatch when he's already going to bat - buy the guy you can't get to vote for your legislation as best you can.
