Fuck Apple, and while we're at it, fuck Real too for having the shittiest videoplayer on the market.

this could be a big fight. I'm sure RealNetworks did their own investigation before coming out with their version

Im not sure i understand why apple is angry. Anything that would give their ipods more flexibility, and hence increase their usage should be good for them. Didnt they say they are running itunes at a loss and only make up for it with people buying ipods? So this way they can let realnetworks run a portion of the crappy music stores.

This is just the start. As each of the corporations run to fence in their little money makers and protect their profits.
Down the road you gonna see some doozies.

I agree with Compmore, this is likely to be a big fight. It will also be very high profile and will define the interaction between formats and companies in the future.
Hopefully those fight will be so widespread that they will make the DMCA so chilling or unapplicable that they will eventually kill the stupid "bypass" law.

The passage of the DMCA has caused a lot of grief for those who must deal with issues in court. I hope the congress is happy! This is about Apple's attempt to protect the income stream from iPod users. And since Apple probably didn't assist in RealNetworks development, Real had to dig into the inner workings of the iPod in the development process.

This makes me think of a line from a film (can't remember which): 'wouldn't it be nice if they finished each other off?' The world would be a better place without RealNetworks and Apple. We can only hope
