My view, comic values aside, is that, far from being a horrible abberation, that the National Socialist Party of Germany in the 1930s, was, the natural conclusion of governments, and in fact, looking at the conditions we are living in, was "ahead of its time".

Look what is going on now, even without cause, you must, as in Nazi Germany, "show your papers" [Stellen Sie Ihre Papiere dar.]

Like Nazi Germany warrantless searches of homes is the law in five states (mine included). Parked cars may be searched without warrant.

People are urged to tell on their neighbors. We've seen images of our soldiers abusing prisoners, and like in Nazi Germany, citizens who refuse to either believe it, or refuse to admit it's wrong.

The "New Freedom Initiative" of Bush would have all children and adults examined for mental illness (with mandatory "treatment" used on those found with problems). Under Nazi rule, it was NOT the Jews who were the first folks killed. It was the mentally ill and deformed. The Nazis presented this as euthanasia to end the suffering of "lives not worthy to be lived". Ironically, Hitlers biggest allies in this were the medical doctors, the physicians of Germany.

A very interesting examination of this is found at:
http://www.libertyhaven.com/theoreticalorphilosophicalissues/history/fromsmall.shtml . The medical doctors to one degree or another, became willing stooges to the Nazi leaders, and it was under their guise, under their cloak of respectability, that these murders of the older, the disabled, the deformed, and the mentally challenged, was performed.

So, as I see it, this "identification of the mentally ill" goes along well with the way the Germans very systematically decided through a variety of mumbo jumbo techniques like measuring and classifying skull types on racial basis, and deciding personality traits from such mensurations.

Government has never really been about freedom. The word "govern" implies naturally that some external group or force is exerting a controlling influence on those governed.

Ever since the biggest, most aggressive individual of the cave man group started telling people what to do and pushing them around, governments of all stripes and features, have been about one thing and one thing only...control.

The German people (I'm part German so I feel free to make a common observation reported by others before) have a history of excelling at discipline, war arts, and very detailing keeping of records, they are meticulous. Ironically, it was the machine like precision of maximizing the recycling of gold from teeth, clothes, etc. , that turned the horror of genocide into a business, with all the deaths neatly organized, accounted for, and equally, a very interesting "efficiency study" of how best to carry out mass murders, and yet, saving the most saleable items.

Was Nazi Germany just a wart on the face of history, an odd bump in the autobahn of human movement toward the future? Nein!

Nazi Germany did not have the kind of surveillance we have today. They didn't have as high tech as we do, six decades into the future, however; for their time, they were an industrial and scientific society and certainly were advanced.

Thus, my point is that today, snooping via Carnivore, Echelon, Magic Lantern, and the reanimated TIPS program (which WAS run by convicted felon John Poindexter) goes on despite the fact that many believe that the de-funding of it by the government, shut it down. It didn't.

Do we have cold , heartless leaders? Yes.

It's all a matter of degree. How far must be go before Homeland...becomes Fatherland. How long before Hail to the Chief becomes Sieg Heil ?

An interesting side bit of history is that, in Nazi Germany, there were Muslim units, many from Bosnia.
http://emperors-clothes.com/bosnia/svijet.htm

So, back to the point. Some time back on this board, when I would mention Nazis, people (some) thought I was just using it as an epithet, or as an alternative to the word "martinet".

mar·ti·net ( P ) Pronunciation Key (märtn-t)
n. A rigid military disciplinarian.
One who demands absolute adherence to forms and rules

This was never true. Nor was I making a comparison with the RIAA as an overblown, hyperbolic outrageous comment.

I believe that any government, has the potential to become Nazi like. It is the natural conclusion, logical extension of governments to seek ultimate power, to use ultimate draconian methods to enforce their laws. It's a unidirectional path...usually, police become militaristic as we head down the Nazi path. It happened in Nazi Germany, and the militarization of the nation's police force is clear.

Cops here in Austin and surrounding areas are now sporting as part of their "Batman utility belt" , what appears to be a Taser (if you read my blog on "from the Taser files" at codewarriorz.blogspot.com, you KNOW how I feel about that). And, across the country, we are seeng more and more equipment and manpower given to the "SWAT" teams, and soon, "DHS" forces in your local area.

Dunno about Hilary Duff....but I do know what I think about King George the W, the "Little Dictator".

Per 'TheSherminator's' inquiry: The aforementioned individual was once the star of a, er, "sitcom" on the Disney Channel called "Lizzie McGuire," and was then anointed as a (ahem) "singing" star (although from what little I've heard, she has all the conviction of someone reading off a page), and can be seen later this week in something called "A Cinderella Story." She is also rumored to be feuding with another (more throat clearing) "hot" teen star of the moment, Lindsay Lohan, for reasons I couldn't care less about.

In addition, Ms. Duff, in 2002, appeared in a made-for-cable movie called "Cadet Kelly," which makes me wonder if that was what inspired a certain Jessica Lynch to enter the military . . .

Finally . . . wasn't something like this posted here a few months before?

To CodeWarrior:

I thought this might be of some interest to you. It's a small article linking the Bush administration and drug companies to the Nazi party:

Moreover, if you're in your car, surfing the (mostly AM) dial and, at the very edge thereof you hear her . . . er, voice, you've probably stumbled onto the "local"(sic) Radio Disney station. Just a warning. . . .

With Mozilla, you don't get the sound and it's all based on a reversed song that sound very much like the text on the screen. I think the visual was bad taste and slanderous.

I am on the other hand worried about many things happening in the country. I don't think it will lead to something as horrible as Nazism, but it sure isn't social progress and enlightment...

read the story about the cop shooting the wrong guy. We average a new killing such as this about once a month or so. Don't be fooled into thinking it's an accident.
