"Finally shedding its stodgy fatcat image, the Recording Industry Assocation of America (RIAA) has picked up on the remixing craze with their own unique, patented style: the RIAA-Mix*!

This slamming new remix style pairs today's hottest Top40 tracks with the rough'n'tumble aesthetic tradition of anti-pop freeform noise! Shooting straight up from the underground, this ear-bleeding mash is sure to catch the ears of the naught generation's youthful angst the same way that Nirvana's screeching feedback and Public Enemy's authentic grit gave voice to the early 1990's with sharp, street-level indie cred.

All RIAA-Mixes are the result of an unprecedented collaboration between industry heavyweights in the RIAA, and up-coming talent, Overpeer/Loudeye. Don't sleep on this! Pre-order your CD today!"

From Holmes Wilson at DownhillBattle.org, a bit more
about this site..
"You know those fake songs put out by the labels on p2p networks that have 20 seconds of music followed by intense screeching noise? The joke is that they're treating those decoy songs as cutting edge noise-pop remixes. They're also openly selling a CD compilation of these so called "RIAA-mixes", which hopefully the major labels will try to sue them for.

In many ways it's the opposite of an action like Grey Tuesday, in that it's not the remix they don't want you to hear, it's the remix they want to force you to listen to. But we thought you might find it entertaining at least. "

believe it or not if you remove the precise second where the "screeching" starts, you have a perfectly viable song. (at least itunes will play the rest of the song if you skip the screech)

my friend and I ran into one of these bogus songs while browsing people's itunes shares.. (itunes has a feature to allow streaming over local networks)

Patented style; slamming; rough'n'tumble; anti-pop freeform noise;
Shooting straight up from the underground; ear-bleeding mash;
naught generation's youthful angst; and street-level indie cred is one of the most offensive uses of the English language that I have ever witnessed.

I agree, stilltrying. I'll pass, too. But at least we're partway there. I remember seeing on the news somewhere about a symphonic punk ensemble recently. (Tech Live perhaps?) I may have to do a search for it - I want to hear more. (I'm a fan of both classical and punk music)

This is fukin funny.

Everyone here should download the tracks, burn some copies and pass em on to ignorant music fans to hip them to the current "sound" of RIAA-sponsored music.

Art or political act? Rock on!
