Sometimes, we can become faceless avatars, names on a board, who become one dimensional, or maybe two at best. Today, I just wanted to take a few minutes to introduce you to one of the writers here...Tom. He's the one who writes the great long articles ( as opposed to my rabble rousing ones :) ).
Tomsong / Tom Barger is a tireless worker. Like Leflaw (Larry) and George, Tom is a musician, has been around the music and movie business for years, and knows what it is like to record, to play clubs, and to fight against the monopolistic system. Some of you may not have heard Tom perform before, and there is a short clip of one of his songs, "Cowboy", downloadable from the link at
http://www.boycott-riaa.com/article/11311 .
The cool thing about Tom is that he is not BS, he is the real deal. He really does care about the rights of independent musicians, about the music industry, and about songwriters and performers. Tom is never a man to brag on himself. He's a humble guy, and he puts the issues first.
Tom is kinda like a Renaissance guy. He does great graphics (you've seen his great posters, his logos, and all kinds of cool stuff), is great with video, and like I already said, is a great singer/songwriter....doing it "old school".
And, when I see Tom's byline on an article, I check it out first thing, because I always learn something I didn't know (and that might help me think of something to write :) ).
I didn't want to embarass him with all this praise, but, believe it or not, sometimes I, yes me, the longwinded, abrasive, "know it all" CodeWarrior, have felt like saying, "To hell with it all", it's not worth keeping on keeping on with this fight.
And, know who boosted my spirits, made me laugh, and kept me going? Yeah, it was the Tominator...tomsong.
So, (Tom don't kill me for writing this)....I just wanted to say a public thank you, and an acknowledgement for all you do for this site, for our cause, and your tireless efforts for our cause which often go unsung.
And, I think all of us can stand a little more positive recognition from time to time.
Thank you Tom...you're number one in my book brother!
And, thanks for being my friend!
:)
