--------------snip-------editorial comment------------------------------------------

Look, what is this guy doing for TEXAS?
If you look at his record, he would appear to be using a lot of his time
and resources, introducing bills to criminalize citizens for using P2P,
attacking our civil rights and liberties.

I personally am bothered by the way someone, who is arguably supposed to be
representing the interests of Texans, appears to be spending inordinately
large amounts of his work day, instead of working for Texans, apparently
doing the bidding of the RIAA...who, after all, are NOT based in Texas,
and who have attacked citizens in Texas with this "pay up or we sue" nonsense.

You know how it works. You have the money, you make the laws. If I ever get rich, I'm gonna buy a Senator.

Ok Code this is some great info here. But my question is how do we use this information against this man? Can we post this info on www.thesmokinggun.com ?

I'm not from Texas, but if I was, I'd sure as hell not re-elect him. 73% last election! I guess 54% must be RIAA-paid, and 19% must be automobilers.

Election day is coming, here's your chance ...

JLBRMECHANIC- of course you can post it on the smokinggun..
:) (Smile)

I got the info from congress.org.

I think that everyone in Texas should be aware of his activities, and be able to make an informed decision about whether we want someone with his allegiances, to continue representing us.

Thanks Code. I'll contact the smoking gun and see if they want this info. Mr. Smith clearly does not represent the interests of the people only big money. Sad really. I hate career politicians.

awesome research code. It's great to see some corporates wasting lobbying money. It's intersting to find that Verizon contributed ALOT, tooo. It would be interesting to dig this info for John Kerry, President Bush, and anyone else.

I was just wondering, suppose it were the case that the congressmen etc receiving all this money from the RIAA members held such views BEFORE they received the money.

AND then the RIAA members send the money AFTER they learn this fact to make sure that these politicians CONTINUE to be presenting bills in their favor.

This seems possible to me as well.

what if they are just simply corrupt politicians :) (Smile)
