FCC Fines Howard Stern - the transcript
Posted by AdvancedLachatte in on March 22, 2004 at 9:53 AM

MARCH 19--Claiming that Howard Stern's "graphic and explicit" on-air discussion of a "blumpkin" was indecent, the Federal Communications Commission yesterday fined Infinity Broadcasting $27,500 for airing the shock jock's July 2001 "sexual and excretory" ruminations. So what's a blumpkin? Perhaps a review of the below transcript from the offending Stern broadcast--helpfully included with the FCC decision--will clear things up for you. (3 pages)

I'm personally not a fan of Howard Stern, but I wasn't very "shocked" at what I saw in the transcript. I do agree however that they should not have been discussing in detail such acts. Children listen to radio, the also watch TV. I'm glad the FCC stepped up and shut Stern down.

I know how most of you guys think that censorship is wrong, but if put to good use, it comes in handy every once in a while. Censorship can be used to stop things such as RIAA Lawsuits... Let's censor the word "litigation" from all official documents. That will stop em! :D (Big Grin)

Well, RocketGib, if you think it should be censored, check out Oprah's transcript too (gee, here's one for the Letterman show), and see if you don't find that equally offensive.

Carla, EXACTLY!!! This is total bullshit by the FCC, they are arbitrarily handing out fines on something that has yet to even be defined, either by the FCC or the courts!

The poor FCC folks are just tryin to make some money.

There's janitors, secretaries and other 'hidden' people who will lose their jobs if they don't have the money to pay them. We shouldn't be such slanderous pirates talking about these hard working Americans like this are just trying to make thier..umm...make their...uh..ugh...oh god I think I'm gonna.....oh no!!!...*PUKE!!"

Phew! I couldn;t even go thru with that parody without getting sick.

The FCC won;t let us be..they just trying ta shut us down on MTV. They are just performing their own version of suing and extortion to get more cash in their pockets.

These are the days people...Nation against nation..brother against brother

zxilton.. it don't gotta be that way. In the US, we have one way out.. or up, for that matter.. the FCC is a political entity, and as such, can be changed.. but we gotta hit the streets, organize, register, and VOTE THE GARBAGE OUT!!! SpeakingNodding
