Judge: R. Kelly, stay away from M. Jackson
Posted by AdminCodeWarrior in on January 29, 2004 at 11:41 AM

"CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- R. Kelly won't be mingling with Michael Jackson during next month's Grammy festivities: A judge has ordered the R&B star, who is awaiting trial on child pornography charges, to stay away from the King of Pop, himself facing child molestation charges, when Kelly attends the awards.

The Chicago-based Kelly has produced two songs for Jackson: the 1995 hit "You Are Not Alone" and last fall's "One More Chance." Kelly is nominated for two Grammys at the February 8 ceremony and had to get a judge's permission to attend the Los Angeles event; Jackson is not up for any awards and there are no indications that he even plans to attend the ceremony.

Prosecutors and Kelly's lawyers said they never raised the issue of a meeting between Jackson and Kelly during a hearing this week about Kelly's travel. Cook County Circuit Judge Vincent Gaughan made the edict on his own, they said. The judge was at a funeral Wednesday and could not be reached for comment.

Kelly lawyer Edward Genson said Monday's ruling, first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times on Tuesday, was not a problem.

"What's the difference if someone makes an order not to see someone he didn't want to see in the first place?" Genson asked. "

It's pretty sad when the Grammys have to set up their seating chart based on distance required by restraining orders.

You Are Not Alone... hmm... Perhaps a message for Michael...

One More Chance... hmm... Perhaps a message to the public asking for one more chance...

And, if they mingled, what was allegedly feared would happen?
Did the judge think they would sneak away to an Inner Sanctum and develop some nanotech based super child molesting machine...or establish a worldwide popstar based molestation ring?

The law to me is often like a dung beetle, flailing around in the feces, not knowing what it wants to digest first...
and you can quote me on that... ~copyright 2004 CodeWarrior..All Rights :) (Smile)

on second thought..maybe the Judge is onto something...
for example, if we kept Madonna and Britney apart, that kissing deal could have been avoided...

I think we should make a list of entertainment industry people who should be kept apart by law...

starting with Cary Sue and Itchy Bunghole...

Now R. Kelly has to be seated far away from the Olsen Twins AND Jacko. Where does it stop?

that's funny, they may be partners in crime, and the judge doesn't want them to try something on the award show night, just so it's no exciting, yeah awward shows suck.

If we can keep them both away from recording studios we may have something!
